SURRENDERING YOUR HORSE
If you are in need of help and you are unable to keep your horse for any reason please contact us. We understand in these difficult times with rising costs, job losses and cutbacks that some people are facing having to choose between feeding their horses or feeding their children. There are a lot of people abandoning their horses in public places, sneaking them into empty horse trailers at auctions and shows, also letting them loose in national parks. If you get caught doing this it is a criminal offense, you can be fined, jailed or both. Surrendering your horse to a rescue is an alternative to abandonment and perfectly legal. If you need help please let us know so we can assist you. What we need from you is accurate information on the horse so we can properly care for and place it into a new home (age, breed, background, does it have any training, any special feed required, when was it's last deworming and immunizations, etc...) Please don't wait until your situation is extreme! If your horse is severely ill or is in a condition that it will not recover from or have any quality of life please have it put down, you will only be prolonging it's misery if you don't. We are not a disposal service! If you cannot afford to have it done we may know of a program that can offer some assistance in your area.
